About the experience
What can I expect from the event?
Discover David Hockney’s boundless imagination across six chapters of art, sound and storytelling. Journey through vibrant iPad drawings, sweeping landscapes, stage designs and some of the artist’s best-known works, brought to monumental scale with an original score by Nico Muhly and narration by Hockney himself.

This experience is located at IMBA Theatre, which is located within Gardens by the Bay, a short and pleasant walk from Bayfront Plaza.
What are the opening hours?
Mon-Thu: 10:00am-7:00pm (Last Entry: 6:00pm)
Fri-Sun & Public Holidays: 10:00am-8:00pm (Last Entry: 7:00pm)

Does the experience take place in an indoor or outdoor venue?
This is an indoors immersive experience, occurring entirely within IMBA Theatre
How long does the experience last?
The experience runs for approximately 50 minutes.
Is there parking available?
The nearest parking available is at Bayfront Plaza.
Will there be additional sessions?
The current season runs until 31 August 2026. Any extensions or additional sessions will be announced on this page.
Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and footwear. You may also wish to bring a light jacket, as the theatre can feel cool.
Will there be merchandise for sale?
Yes. A selection of merchandise is available at Stacked Store, located within IMBA Theatre, subject to availability.
About tickets
Where can I get tickets?
In the Fever App, available on Google Play and the Apple Store, and on the Fever website. Tickets may also be purchased at IMBA Theatre, subject to availability.
Can I purchase tickets at the door?
Yes, subject to availability. As sessions may sell out, we recommend booking in advance through the Fever website or app.
Can I transfer my tickets to another person?
Yes. Select “Transfer Tickets” from your ticket in the Fever app, or contact us at Fever Support with your order number for assistance.
I can't find my ticket. What should I do?
Check the “Tickets” section of the Fever app while logged in to the account used for the booking. Your ticket and QR code should also appear in your confirmation email. If you still cannot locate them, please contact Fever Support.
Can I change the date of my ticket? Are refunds allowed?
Eligible date or time changes may be requested up to 48 hours before your scheduled visit. Check your ticket in the Fever app for the “Change date and/or time” option, or contact Fever Support with your nine-digit ticket ID. Refunds are subject to the applicable ticket terms and conditions.
Can I make a group booking?
For group and corporate bookings, contact corporate.sales@imbaglobal.com with your preferred date, group size and contact details.
About access to the event
Do I need to arrive at the start of my scheduled session?
Please arrive within your booked admission window. Unlike a conventional screening, David Hockney: Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away) does not have fixed showtimes. Its six chapters run continuously on an approximately 50-minute loop, so you may enter regardless of which chapter is playing and continue until you have experienced the full cycle.
Can I bring animals? Are service dogs allowed?
Animals are not permitted within the exhibition spaces, including assistance and service animals. If you have accessibility requirements, please contact us before your visit so we can discuss how best to support you.
Is the venue accessible?
IMBA Theatre is wheelchair accessible. Visitors with specific access requirements are encouraged to contact the team before their visit so that suitable assistance can be arranged.
What are the prohibited items at the experience?
Food and drinks are not permitted inside the immersive theatre. Please avoid bringing bulky items into the experience. Lockers are available on site should you wish to store personal belongings during your visit.
Do you offer carer tickets?
We do not currently offer companion or carer tickets. If you have accessibility requirements or need assistance planning your visit, please contact our team in advance and we'll be happy to advise on the available options.
Is the experience accessible for deaf/visually impaired people?
The experience relies heavily on large-scale visual projections, music and spoken narration. It does not currently include audio description, captions or sign-language interpretation. Visitors with specific accessibility requirements are encouraged to contact us before booking so we can provide further information about the experience.
Will there be strobe lights?
The experience features large-scale moving projections across the walls and floor, accompanied by continuous music and spoken narration. While it does not contain flashing images in the 16–25 Hz range, some sequences include high-contrast moving visuals and changes in sound level, with certain sections being quieter or louder than others. Visitors with specific sensory concerns are encouraged to contact us before visiting for more information.
Will restrooms be available on site?
Restrooms are available on site. Please ask a member of our Front of House team if you require directions.
Can I take photos or record the experience?
Personal photography and short-form video recording are welcome. Please avoid flash, tripods and any activity that disrupts other visitors. Tag @be.imba when sharing your visit.
Is there a Lost & Found?
If you've lost an item during your visit, please speak to a member of our Front of House team before leaving the venue. If you've already departed, please contact hello@imbaglobal.com.
Is there an age requirement?
Visitors of all ages are welcome. Young children must remain under adult supervision. The visual display includes one brief instance of artistic nudity.
